Since ClaroLux’s® inception the BL23’s internal components were composed of a stainless steel spring and a floating copper beryllium MR16 stationary socket with stainless steel clips. With the creation of the BL23’s little brother, the BL21 compact bullet light, the stainless steel spring was passed down to the BL21 and a new era has begun with the BL23.
The BL23 has now received all new internals which includes a billet aluminum socket with cooling fins. This not only holds the lamp in place but also helps with heat dissipation. The BL23 is now in a league of its own. To learn more about the BL23 please click here.
LEDs are becoming more and more versatile as they begin to replace all of the aging halogen landscape lighting systems in the marketplace. Professionals are now relying on LEDs more so than ever to help them to bring their designs to life. What used to be a world dominated by halogen landscape lighting fixtures and lamps is now being ruled by LEDs. As the demand for LEDs continues to grow, so are the choices for LEDs. Recently Brilliance MR16 LED added a “no lens” 120˚ MR16 LED that can be used in a bullet/spot light fixture like ClaroLux’s CL-BL21 & CL-BL23 MR16 LED. This enables the fixture to not only be used as a directional spot light but also a wash light. The 120˚ MR16 LED allows professionals to softly wash surfaces that used to require the use of a bulky wash light and inefficient halogen bi-pins. With the use of the 120˚ MR16 LEDs in bullet/spot lights like the CL-BL21 and CL-BL23 this not only creates a super efficient luminaire but also a very versatile one.
ClaroLux’s CL-BL21 and CL-BL23 also come with many other accessories like honey comb louvers, colored lens (green, red, amber, metal halide, mercury vapor), etc. In the past if you were to use a wash light to softly illuminate a surface you would be limited to just how bright you wanted the luminaire to be. Now, with the introduction of the 120˚ MR16 from Brilliance LED, this opens up a whole new realm of possibilities for outdoor lighting designers and professionals.
ClaroLux is excited to be one of the first landscape lighting manufacturers to offer the 4W, 5W and 7W 120˚ MR16 LEDs from Brilliance.
ClaroLux’s Design and Manufacturing Department was recently contacted by The Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, Maryland to help them with their efforts to convert their lighting system in their facility over to LED. The Walters Art Museum was illuminating most of their artwork with high wattage 12V PAR36 halogen lamps. Not only were the halogen PAR36 lamps very inefficient but they were also producing quite a bit of heat that had to be countered by their central HVAC system. This in turn was costing the museum a lot of money on a yearly basis.
ClaroLux helped to design an indoor PAR36 to MR16 LED adapter for their current lighting system that would help to eliminate some of these expensive factors above. This was all done while keeping their artwork illuminated to within their specifications. The indoor LED PAR36 – MR16 Adapter has helped ClaroLux enter into a new realm of business in the Art World showing that their abilities/products are not just limited in the outdoor landscape lighting industry.
If you are ever in the Baltimore area please take some time to stop in and see some of their beautiful artwork. The Walters Art Museum is truely an amazing place.
